Mahashivratri Puja Vidhi — Char Prahar Puja at Home

On Mahashivratri night, the tradition is Shiv puja in four prahars, each with its own abhishek, mantra jap and aarti. Going to the temple is not always possible, and at home it is hard to know what to do in which prahar. This book gives the whole night in simple words: vrat sankalp, samagri list, abhishek in all four prahars (water, milk, curd, ghee, honey), the Panchakshar mantra, offering bilvapatra, the Shivratri katha, jagran and the next day’s paran.

It also shows how to work out the prahar timings from your city’s sunset and sunrise, so the book is useful in any year. For those who cannot stay up all night, there is a simple one-prahar puja too.
