Durga Saptashati Saar — 13 Chapters in Simple Hindi

Durga Saptashati, also called the Devi Mahatmya, is part of the Markandeya Purana and has 700 shlokas. Many people do its paath in Navratri, but because it is in Sanskrit, it is hard to follow which katha is going on in which chapter.

This book is not the full mool path but a chapter-by-chapter saar. It starts with the story of King Surath, Samadhi Vaishya and Medha Rishi, then explains all 13 chapters of the three charitras — Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati — in simple Hindi, in order. Each chapter has a few key shlokas in Sanskrit with their meaning, such as the “Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu” stuti of chapter 5. It also introduces the Kavach, Argala and Keelak read before the paath, and ends with the usual Saptashati paath vidhi. The saar and meanings are written by DevGranth.
